Greetings! Many people have asked how they can support the Riceville2Riceville Helene Relief Project. After discussion with some very wise people, it was advised to set up a GoFundMe page versus a Venmo account. So, here it is... (Something about if it was too much, Venmo makes you set up a special business account)
Our story: In the act of compassion, we invite you to participate in the Riceville, IA to Riceville, NC Helene Relief Project (Riceville2Riceville). We have all witnessed the generosity of the Riceville community and their willingness to give. It is with that in mind that we are "adopting" the community of Riceville, NC.
Several individuals have asked how they can support the cause financially. We are more than pleased to offer the opportunity to use the GoFundMe fundraising platform for that purpose.
My name is Ruth Linkenmeyer Meirick and after seeing an absolutely heartbreaking story about folks from Riceville, NC, I thought it would be a wonderful idea to "adopt" Riceville, NC. Funds raised through the GoFundMe application will go to the victims of the hurricane and to cover any costs getting items to the drop site.
My name is Ruth Linkenmeyer Meirick and I am the Project Coordinator for this program. I was born and raised in Riceville, IA and feel very compelled to assist with Riceville, NC.
We will be transferring all the GoFundMe funds into the Riceville2Riceville account at First Security Bank -- All funds raised will go to support the project, pay for expenses getting supplies to the impacted area, and will be donated to a charity that is helping those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
