Rice packets and Dry rations for Sri Lanka
Donation protected
Sri Lanka, my home, is currently facing a major economic crisis.
This is due to years of corruption and mismanagement.
Inflation and high prices have meant that many families are not able to afford basic essential items. As a result, many are experiencing lack of food, fuel and medicine. They are also experiencing hours of power cuts.
I was in Sri Lanka just over two weeks ago and I left a piece of my heart in this beautiful island I call “home”.
I saw the endless queues of people standing in the rain, in the heat and the scorching sun for hours just for fuel, gas and milk powder. I Saw countless shops that normally sell gas with boards of “no gas”.
I listened to shop vendors, to tuk tuk drivers and even to my own friends talking about the frustrating state of the country. I saw the impact of this current situation economic crisis.
I left a piece of me in my beautiful island and it’s just hurting so much to see the pain and the anger that has clearly been building up for years.
I started this Go Fund page as many people have messaged me asking how they can help (thank you). Being far from the island means it can be difficult to truly help. However it is a privilege that I am in a position where I can organise this and contribute in some way.
This is clearly not a solution to the current problems but I know that we will help ease some suffering that people are currently experiencing.

My aim is to raise money to distribute cooked rice and curry packets as well as dry rations to poor communities. The donations will be split to provide for communities in different areas of the country including the north. This will be carried out by my family and friends who are currently in Sri Lanka. We are hoping to get the packages delivered after the Sinhala and Tamil New year. For many the New year holiday this year (14th April) will be a difficult one. We are hoping to somewhat lessen that burden after the New year holiday period!
I would be extremely grateful for any contribution, no value is too small (currently £1 = LKR 390).
All donations will be used directly to purchase dry rations and meals. This fundraiser has no political affiliations. I will be posting photos/evidence of distributions.
Thank you!
