On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Rhodes athletes, students, faculty, alumni, family, and friends pledge to run, walk, or bike 846 miles collectively in memory of George Floyd. 8:46 minutes is how long George Floyd suffered. All donations from the campaign will go to the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center. This organization is a multi-issue, multi-race organization whose mission is to engage, organize and mobilize communities to realize social justice through nonviolent actions. They work to educate and train community leaders to lead campaigns for racial, economic, environmental and social justice. Mid-South Peace and Justice Center works with GOT Power (Grassroots Organizers Training for Power), HOPE (Homeless Organizing for Power and Equality), Memphis United, and MBRU (Memphis Bus Riders Union), among other Memphis organizations.
