Hi Everyone,

Rhiannon and I actually went to school together years ago, but life took us in different directions and we lost touch over time.

We reconnected in the most unexpected and heartbreaking way — through our husbands both undergoing bone marrow transplants together at Westmead Hospital.

What started from shared fear, uncertainty and long hospital days quickly became a friendship built on understanding, support and love. Over the summer holiday, our families spent time together making memories, laughing when we could, and leaning on each other through some incredibly hard moments. Through it all, Rhi became one of my closest friends.

Watching Liam fight over these past months was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite everything he endured, he remained devoted to Rhiannon and their kids, always putting his family first.

Sadly, after battling so hard for so long, Liam became critically unwell last Saturday after developing sepsis. He was placed into an induced coma on life support, and on Monday 11 May, Liam peacefully passed away surrounded by love.

There are simply no words that make sense of a loss like this.

I created this GoFundMe to help Rhiannon and the kids know they are not alone — that they have people beside them to help carry some of the burden during this unimaginable time. Every donation, message, share and act of kindness reminds them that they are surrounded by love and support.

Liam’s funeral will be held on Friday 22 May, 11am at the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club. All are welcome to come and celebrate Liam’s life.
