Wing Walk to raise funds for The Alzheimer's Society

On 4th July I'm going to do a Wing Walk – yes, that means I’ll be strapped to the top of a plane, flying through the sky – in order to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

I’m doing this because I’ve seen dementia up close. My partner’s wonderful mother, Rosalie, died from Alzheimer’s - a cruel disease that slowly takes away the person you love. I have friends who have either lost a close relative to dementia or are currently caring for a parent who is living with the disease. It’s something that touches so many families – and it’s heartbreaking to witness.

Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect memory. It gradually takes away a person’s ability to speak, reason, eat, and even recognise the people they love. Alzheimer’s robs people of their independence, identity, and dignity. It’s heartbreaking, relentless, and it affects millions. And while that’s happening, families are doing everything they can to support them, often with very little help or guidance.

Alzheimer's remains underfunded and misunderstood. The Alzheimer’s Society does vital work, but they can't do it without support. By supporting my wing walk, you're helping to fund life-changing research, better treatments, offering support to families, campaigning for better care, and helping people live as well as possible with dementia.

So I’m stepping (or flying!) way out of my comfort zone to help. And I’d be incredibly grateful if you could sponsor me. Every pound you give will go towards:

  • Better understanding and earlier diagnosis – So people can get the right support sooner.
  • Improved treatments – To slow down the progression of the disease and ease symptoms.
  • Breakthroughs in research – Some types of dementia may one day be preventable or even curable. Scientists are already making promising advances.
  • Better care and support for families – So no one has to face dementia alone.
  • Greater awareness and reduced stigma – So people with dementia are treated with dignity and compassion.

Please consider sponsoring me – every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Together, we can honour those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and bring hope for the future.

Thank you so much for your support.
