Hi neighbors,
I’m Shelley, a friend of Jaz and someone who helps him with his commission projects and day-to-day needs, along with a couple of other friends. While I don’t live in the Clocktower building, I’ve been fortunate to witness firsthand the incredible work he does. So when I heard about your building’s San Francisco Heart, I thought—what a perfect opportunity to bring it back to life!
The Story
Years ago, the Clocktower Building at 461 2nd Street was given one of San Francisco’s iconic Hearts. Over time, the paint has faded, and the heart has been tucked away, out of sight. After seeing the stunning heart that Jaz recently painted for the 2025 Hearts in San Francisco Gala (soon headed to Glide Memorial), several neighbors thought—why not have Jaz restore ours, too?
Now, we have the chance to bring this piece of history back to life. Jaz isn’t just an incredibly talented artist—he’s someone who deeply values giving back to the community. With his vision and skills, he can transform the heart into something vibrant and meaningful once again.
What We Need
To make this project happen, we need to raise $4,500, which will cover:
✅ $1,200 for sanding, prepping, and priming by Ricardo, a trusted associate of the SF Hearts program and Jaz.
This includes:
- Two levels of sanding
- Prep work (including full plastic enclosure floor to ceiling)
- Patching if needed
- Two rounds of priming (across 2–3 days)
✅ $300 for base restoration
✅ Jaz’s time and artistry — $2,500 (This is the amount SF Hearts provides to artists for their commissions)
✅ $300 for materials, including high-quality paint, protective varnish, brushes, and floor coverings
✅ Additional supplies as needed to ensure a long-lasting and stunning transformation (within the remaining budget)
How Donations Work
If we raise less than the goal, Jaz will do as much as possible with the available funds.
GoFundMe does not automatically refund donations once withdrawals begin, but if, for any reason, the project can’t move forward, we will ensure all donors receive a refund.
This is a special opportunity for the Clocktower community to restore a piece of its own history. With your support, we can make it happen! If you’d love to see this heart shining again, please consider contributing.
Thank you!
