We are members of the Ammon Community, and we’ve noticed that many of the fire hydrants in our city are in poor condition. Their faded, chipped, and peeling paint not only makes our neighborhoods look neglected, but also diminishes the sense of pride we take in living here. Fire hydrants are a small but important part of our community’s identity, and keeping them clean and freshly painted benefits everyone.
We’ve already taken the initiative to repaint several hydrants ourselves, but the costs are adding up quickly. On average, it costs about $30 to repaint just one hydrant, and with hundreds spread throughout our city, the need is far greater than we can handle alone.
That’s why we’re reaching out to our fellow community members. This project isn’t just about paint—it’s about teamwork and pride in the place we call home. We need help not only with paint itself, but also with protective equipment (respirators, gloves, and goggles) and tools to remove old, loose paint before applying fresh coats.
Fresh paint does more than make hydrants look better—it makes them more visible to firefighters in an emergency. A well-painted hydrant can be spotted more quickly, saving valuable time when every second counts. This is a simple but meaningful way we can all contribute to the safety of our neighborhoods.
Rest assured, we are following standards approved by the American Public Works Association and the City of Ammon Fire Department. Most hydrants are being painted red with a white bonnet and white caps for additional visibility, but if you would prefer yours to be painted solid red, we will ensure it is done that way.
Together, we can make a visible difference in our community, one hydrant at a time. With enough support, every corner of Ammon can reflect the care, pride, and spirit of the people who live here.
