Meet Reva Whelan, she is an amazing 21-year-old young lady who is just starting out in life. She is working, purchased a car and recently leased her own apartment. Reva is a happy-go-lucky young lady who truly loves her cats. She has four cats, yes four: Bonnie, Clyde, Jeremy and Megan. Clyde is the most vocal. Six weeks into her new apartment life, Reva visits the doctor about lumps she found on her neck. The doctor does a biopsy and blood work. The biopsy came back negative, but her blood work tells a different story. So, her health journey begins. Reva was told by the doctor to go to the hospital emergency room immediately. Reva goes to the hospital on a Friday afternoon. As the weekend unfolds, tests are being performed and the oncologist performs another biopsy but tells Reva to prepare because they believed it was cancerous. Just imagine being told, at 21, you might have cancer. Reva took the news in stride and has had the most positive outlook. On Sunday morning at 8:00 am, Reva had her second surgery to remove the swollen lymph node from her neck. On Tuesday, May 2nd, Reva learns the news that she has Nodular Hodgkin Lymphoma. In her most recent appointment, the oncologist explained her chances of being cured are between 80% and 90%. As you can imagine, a 21-year-old does not have a large bank account or the best medical insurance because this is not supposed to happen at this age --- she is just starting out in life. We are asking for your help to support Reva with the mounting medical bills that she is now incurring. Each appointment is $150 and there are many appointments ahead as she prepares for chemotherapy, which will be a huge expense. Not to mention, she will need prescriptions, scarves and hats as she has been informed that she will lose her hair. Help support Reva’s road to recovery. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover her medical bills as she battles this disease.
