Rev. & Mrs. Veary need your help
Donation protected
Due to having received an email from a related third party claiming that by telling this story on behalf of my in-laws he somehow considers this to be ‘defamation’ and that asking for completely voluntary donations to help them is fraudulent, I have edited the information below to remove specific references.
I will clarify, this is their situation not mine. I am only providing the information as it has been told to me.
Twenty-three years ago, my in-laws, entered into an agreement with a family member to buy a family home. Their understanding of that agreement and what has now transpired are vastly different. They feel betrayed, extremely hurt and have been left homeless in their 80’s.
It was always their understanding that they had equity in the property come time to sell and move into residential aged care.
Unfortunately, for whatever reasons, this is no longer the case.
The legal owner of the property asked them to vacate, but when they couldn’t comply with the timeframe due to ill health and having not been assessed for aged care yet, they were formally evicted through QCAT, via a Warrant of Possession.
They are now in a situation where they have incurred significant legal costs and have had further significant costs for transitioning to residential aged care living. As a Minister, dedicating his life to the Church, rainy day savings were not a luxury they enjoyed.
We are grateful for the support shown by UCA in providing a small contribution towards the removal costs. Together, with the GoFundMe campaign amount donated to date, this has helped to cover some of their unforeseen expenses so thank you to everyone who has helped them out. There’s still a significant shortfall so sharing the campaign link widely would be appreciated.
