My mother Marcela was one of the women who was on the Pacific Tomato bus. It’s been almost a month without her, and she is the rock to our family. She has been in the US for over 20 years and has never had any criminal charges. Her only fault that day was being a “passenger."

My mother’s profession has been to be a farmworker. A role once considered “essential.” She worked under hard conditions to provide for me and my two siblings.

Currently, our family has been struggling emotionally & financially. Additionally, my mother is a special needs mother who has always been there for my autistic sibling. During her absence, my sibling has struggled to adjust without her as well as process the changes to their routine. This has impacted them negatively.

Furthermore, for the past six years, my mother has actively served at our local Catholic parish as an usher and

actively served in the Emaus (a group that plans and coordinates food sales for the church).

Currently, we are asking for funds to help cover financial expenses and legal fees. My mother has been patient with the process and is hopeful she can soon reunite with us.

Mi madre Marcela era una de las mujeres que estaba en el autobús Pacific Tomato. Ha pasado casi un mes sin ella, y ella es la roca para nuestra familia. Ella ha estado en los Estados Unidos durante más de 20 años y nunca ha tenido ningún cargo penal. Su único defecto ese día fue ser una "pasajera".
