Reunite the Arcos Family

Rebecca, David, Kayn, Itzel, and Nyima- one of our dear Keystone families need our support!

Rebecca, a bay area native, and her husband David, who has lived in the Bay Area since age 17 have been married for the past 11 years and raised three beautiful children, two whom I've had the opportunity and privilege to know and watch grow up in a very happy and loving home. The Arcos family was always supportive to the Keystone family and welcomed us with open arms to birthday parties, treating the staff to treats, and are just a lot of fun and always a pleasure to be around.

Rebecca and David married in 2007 when they started the legal battle to obtain legal status in the US. In 2017 they were granted provisional approval. October 2017 the time came for David's interview which as the law states has to occur in your country of citizenship. This is an interview which they are not allowed to attend as his family. They took a road trip as a family as Rebecca was still on maternity leave with baby being just 3 months. They took Kayn out of kindergarten and placed him on an independent study program and took Itzel out of Keystone for the time being. The family traveled to Ciudad Juarez by car with a provisional approval from immigration and planning their return trip home ... possibly visit the Grand Canyon, one of David's lifelong dreams.

The outcome of the interview ..David was denied his visa and barred from the US for 10 years. As he is from Mexico, he came without inspection and they were a provisional waiver of the bar. However, he traveled to Mexico and returned again without inspection after a death in the family in 2003. If you are from Mexico ( does not apply to other countries) and you enter the country without inspection on more than one occasion you have a permanent 10 year bar.

They said goodbye and left David in a country he has not know since his childhood. He traveled over 24 hrs on a bus to find his parents home and has been sitting there ever since. No work and without his family.

Since, the family has returned to return to their duties. Their lives flipped upside down. Rebecca returned to work, put the kids back in school while having to take on her husband's role as the stay at home father to care of the baby and all his other duties. They have been traveling to visit David every school break and it has been very taxing on the family. Although they are strong, they can longer continue this lifestyle emotionally, physically and financially.

As for their future.. they are actively trying to immigrate to Canada , having to leave all of our family and community here the Bay Area. Alternatively they will live at the border together in Mexico and Rebecca will cross daily for work and kids school. For the meantime Kayn and Itzel will spend the summer with their papa in Mexico while they work out the details.

It breaks my heart to watch this family be torn apart and I admire Rebecca, David and their families for all of their hard work they have put in to make this work for their family. It has been a very difficult road for them and I was touched enough to reach out for help on their behalf. Rebecca has taken numerous trips- using up all of her vacation time, savings, and honestly giving her all to keep her family together. David was a stay at home father whose children were always happy to see him with a huge smile on their face when they would get picked up from school. He would always take his children out, make sure the house is clean, and prepare meals for the family while Rebecca was at work. It is heartbreaking for them all for this tragic event to happen. During this time Rebecca has been such a rock for her family and I know that any additional support for them will help immensely. I would like to reach our to the school and our community to help this family out during this difficult time in their lives in hope that in the end they can make this work out for their family to be together once again.
