My name is Regina Udeh, and I am reaching out for support during a very difficult time for my family.

I am legally settled in the United Kingdom and I am the mother of a British daughter. My husband currently lives outside the UK, and we are trying to apply for a visa so that he can legally join us and live together as a family.

Although my husband is not my daughter’s biological father, he has been a loving and constant presence in her life, guidance and security. He cares for her as his own, and she calls him “Daddy.” They share a strong emotional bond, and our family life is deeply affected by being separated. Our separation has been especially confusing and painful for a young child who does not understand why someone so important to her cannot be present every day.

Due to legal and parental responsibilities, I am not able to leave the UK with my daughter. Her father is based in the UK, and it would not be lawful or in her best interests for her to relocate abroad. This makes it impossible for our family to live together outside the UK.

As a British child, her life, education, healthcare, and wider family ties are firmly rooted here. This means that relocating to another country to live with my husband is not an option for us. As a result, refusing my husband the ability to join us in the UK forces an impossible choice: either long-term separation from my husband or disrupting the life and stability of a British child.

As a result, our only option is to submit a complex immigration application based on our right to family life under human rights law (Article 8). Unfortunately, this process involves very high costs that we cannot manage alone.

Unfortunately, applications of this nature are extremely complex and costly. The financial burden includes high visa fees, legal and administrative costs, document preparation, and professional translations. As a family already under financial pressure, we are unable to cover these costs alone.

The immigration route we must apply under is legally complex and involves several mandatory fees that must be paid upfront before an application can be submitted.

1. UK Partner Visa Application Fee

£1,846

This is the Home Office fee for a partner visa application made from outside the UK, including applications based on human rights (Article 8).

2. Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)

£3,105

This covers access to the NHS and is charged at£1,035 per year.

For a 2.5-year (30-month) visa, this must be paid in full in advance.

3. Legal and Professional Fees

£1,500 – £3,000 (estimated)

Due to the complexity of an Article 8 / 10-year route application, specialist immigration advice is often required.

This includes:

Legal assessment of the case

Preparation of detailed legal representations

Ensuring compliance with human rights law and Home Office policy

4. Document Translation and Certification

£200 – £500 (estimated)

This includes:

Certified translations of foreign documents

Official copies and certification where required

5. Supporting and Administrative Costs

£150 – £300 (estimated)

This may include:

Biometric appointment fees

Printing, scanning, and document submission costs

Courier or secure document handling

These costs must largely be paid before the application can be submitted, which is why financial support is essential for us.

Our goal is not luxury or advantage — it is simply unity, safety, and emotional security for a child and for a family that wants to live lawfully and peacefully together.

Every pound raised will be usedsolely for immigration-related costs to allow our family to apply lawfully and correctly. Any unused funds will remain dedicated to future immigration expenses, as this route requires ongoing renewals.
