Reunite Angela with Her Boys!

Donation protected

My friend Angela and her husband, Noah, have 3 wonderful sons, ages 4, 6, and 13. When Angela and her lovely family moved into my neighborhood a few years ago, I was immediately impressed by what a great mom she is. She is talented, thoughtful, and very giving—and her boys reflect this. They are well-behaved, kind, smart, and obviously very well-loved. (We need more boys like this!)

Noah was recently laid-off from his job in Louisiana. This is a scary event for any family, but Angela and Noah managed to find a silver lining in the cloud—a chance to fulfil their long-time dream of moving the family to Oregon, where better educational and job opportunities are available. So they are going for it!

Angela flew to Portland in early August with their youngest. She is staying with friends, working, and saving money. Meanwhile, Noah and the 2 older boys are staying with Noah’s mother in Louisiana, while Noah finds short-term work.

Due to the kindness of these friends and family, Angela and Noah have a chance to set aside money to reunite the family. They hope to save enough within 2-3 months to do it.

Realistically, though, it could take longer…

When I heard about this situation, my heart was really touched -- and I instantly wanted to help. This is a thoughtful, creative, good family. They care about each other and their community. They have tons of love and good-will. They are great neighbors.

Please help reunite Angela and her boys!

The amount needed is $3,000. This will be used for:

* Renting a place for the family in Portland (1st month’s rent, deposit, utilities)

* Expenses for Noah and the 2 boys to drive from Louisiana to Portland, Oregon (gas, lodging)

Any amount that you can give is appreciated. Every dollar will help. All funds will go directly to Angela. Our time-frame is to reach the goal by September 10, 2018.

Thank you SO MUCH for your help and generosity!

Working together, bit by bit, we can help this sweet family get past a bad bump in the road.  Thank you again!

A few more words…

Most families today need 2 parents working to get ahead or even just make ends meet. Even so, Angela chose to stay home with her boys as much as possible, creating a nurturing, educational environment for them. I have been deeply touched by Angela’s choice to dedicate her time to the boys, even though her sacrifice meant that she and Noah couldn’t set aside savings.

When I offered to start a funding web-page to help Angela's family reunite in Oregon, her response was typical of her great heart:

“I'm in tears, and I cannot begin to express how much this means to me. I had considered asking for help, but with so many in so much more dire situations than us, I couldn't bring myself to do it. However, knowing that I'll be leaving two of my children in a few hours is breaking my heart, and I don't feel I'm in a position to turn down your offer. I am so grateful. Thank you.”

I can easily relate to Angela’s situation. When my children were toddlers (more than 30 years ago), my husband was deathly ill and unable to work for a long while. Many people reached out to help us. Some were friends, some were family, and and many didn’t even know us. Because of their collective efforts, we had a place to live and food on the table—and my husband got the surgery he needed. He made a complete recovery and began a successful career that continues today. Best of all, my children and I got to keep him in our lives.

That happened because of the kindness of others, for which I am deeply and eternally grateful. I can never repay everyone who helped us—but I can pay it forward.

Please join me in giving a helping hand to Angela and her lovely family.

Thank you SO MUCH for giving whatever you can.

 Another little note:

GoFundMe is a very safe and secure way to give. They are a free, non-profit service and keep none of the money donated. A very small fee is deducted to pay the bank’s fee for processing your credit/debit card when you donate. However, when this fundraising event is over, I will donate to cover the cost of all of those little bank fees—so that 100% of all donations will go to Angela and her family.

When you donate through GoFundMe, you can check a box to remain anonymous, if you wish.

If you know Angela and prefer to donate to her directly, please feel free contact her.

And same for me, if you prefer to mail a check to me, I will send all funds onward to Angela.

You can also help by sharing this page with others.  THANK YOU!!!
