Reunite Afghan Refugee with his Wife and Six Children in US

My name is Ahmad Popal. I am a refugee from Kabul, Afghanistan, who had to flee my country when the Taliban took over because I was a teacher who taught women. My wife (Shabnam) and I are the proud parents of six children between the ages of 2 and 13 (Tajala, Taranum, Ahmad Subhan, Atena Bareen, Ahmad Farhan, and Aswa Bareen). When Kabul Airport fell in August 2021, my family and I were separated and I need your help to reunite with them.

In the almost 3 years that we have been separated, I have been granted asylum to stay in the United States, and the USCIS approved them for asylum as well in March 2024. While waiting for this process to play out, my wife and children have faced extreme hardship, especially since last Autumn when my two eldest daughters, Tajala (age 13) and Taranum (age 11), came to the attention of a local Taliban leader who wanted to kidnap them and make them either wives, slaves, or servants. My wife fled Kabul with the children and is currently safe in Pakistan on a visa. They are safe currently, and for that I am immensely grateful.

They are currently waiting for a final interview and approval with the US embassy in Islamabad, and there's no telling how long this process may take. In the meantime, my current employment as an Uber driver makes it very difficult to support two households or to pay for the airfare for them to fly from Islamabad to Las Vegas (estimated USD$7K-$8K at least). We can use your help to pay for their living expenses in Pakistan while they await the embassy's appointment and determination, and to pay for their eventual flight to Harry Reid International Airport to reunite with me, finally, in Las Vegas. Please donate whatever you can. All funds will be used to cover their living expenses (food, rent, utilities, etc.) in Pakistan and the airfare that will eventually bring my family back to me.
