Naomi and Esters Musemu's story is one of indomitable courage, love, and the unyielding dream of a family reunion. After 12 years separated, Naomi and Ester have finally found their family alive, living as refugees in Uganda. The girls are determined to bring the family from the Uganda to Australia despite the path ahead being fraught with obstacles, including the visa process that can stretch for years.
A Beacon of Hope
Naomi and Ester journey from fleeing violence in Kinshasa at just 12 and 8 years of age; to finding refuge and rebuilding a life in Albury Australia, is nothing short of miraculous.
Now a pillar in her community, Naomi has been a beacon of hope and resilience, working as a learning support officer and owning a business in the disability sector in Albury, whilst Ester, is now living and working in Melbourne.
The Challenge of Reunion
The discovery that their parents and six siblings were still alive, ignited a fierce determination in Naomi and Ester to reunite their family. However, the financial and bureaucratic challenges are immense. Therefore, the girls have a desire to support their family's needs to thrive in Uganda, away from the dangers of their homeland.
