Reunite a Family After Their Tragic Loss

Last month, our beloved nanny, Sonia, received the news that her 20 year old son, Victor--who she hadn't seen in twelve years--had died on his way to see her. They last saw each other in Guatemala, when Sonia was forced to make the most heartbreaking decision a mother could ever make--to leave her four sons behind in order to provide a better life for them. This life would include food, clothing and an education, which Sonia never had. Victor was on his way to the United States and died in Mexico, the cause of which is still unclear. He had told his mother that she had sacrificed enough and that it was his turn to support their family. They were finally going to be reunited, but he never made it. We met Sonia only eight months ago, but she has quickly become an integral part of our family. Her immense kindness, patience and the gentleness of her soul has touched each one of us. Returning her son's body to Guatemala was an enormous financial burden, in addition to the burial plot and funeral costs. Now Sonia wishes to return to her three living sons. She knows that giving up her job means they will no longer be able to go to school, but that at least they will be together. We would like to help Sonia not only with the funeral costs, but also to start a small business in Guatemala so she can feed her family and keep her boys in school. Sonia is extremely apprehensive about asking for help, and believes God will see her through this, but we still want to do everything we can. The last text Victor sent to her said, "Mama, what will it be like when we see each other again?" Let's help Sonia!
