A group of 10 students from Kettering Science Academy will be participating in a 4 week expedition to Peru in Summer 2026 with Camps International.
The expedition includes community development work, environmental projects and wildlife conservation and a breathtaking trek to Machu Picchu.
In Peru, projects are designed to make a significant and lasting impact on the region’s most critical issues: typically focusing on:
Sanitation and rural housing improvement
The small rural community in Moray is extremely poor with no basic sanitation or sewerage. They will be getting involved with projects such as renovating houses and constructing toilet blocks in each of the houses in the village, providing families and vulnerable elderly residents with proper sanitation facilities.
School improvement
The communities surrounding Lake Titicaca remain some of the poorest in Peru. The remoteness of this region means that there is little or no help available from surrounding towns. They will work on projects to improve educational facilities for children in the area, taking part in our ongoing work at the local elementary school and kindergarten.
Community development
Due to the remoteness of the Colca region and relatively harsh environmental conditions, the community here is very poor. We have a number of ongoing project initiatives within this community and they could be helping with anything from primary school development to building guinea pig houses.
This expedition is extremely important to Reuben and Imogen as they will acquire and develop many important life skills. They both have had their challenges navigating life with Autism, Anxiety and even Cancer (Reuben) so this will certainly put them out of their comfort zones and make them learn about themselves and different cultures. It will be an amazing experience while helping the local communities.
The money raised will go towards helping Reuben and Imogen raise the money needed to travel and for them to assist in a variety of project work.
They would be extremely grateful for any and all contributions you can make towards my fundraising.
Thank you
Reuben and Imogen
