CARS Adaptive Swim Program

Hi! My name is Jaray Liu and I'm helping organize Crimson's Adaptive Swim Program for girls with Rett syndrome. In my freshman year, I was fortunate enough to be able to help in the original CARS program. My teammates and I bonded with these amazing girls, connecting and playing with them in the pool. During that precious time, I was inspired by their courage and determination -- despite difficulties in walking, speaking, and even breathing, they wouldn't let Rett confine them in their wheelchairs. But due to the pandemic, CARS had to be put on hold while pools closed and everyone distanced themselves. This year, we are trying to start the program again using the West Suburban YMCA facilities. I'm fundraising to cover the costs of pool time, which is estimated to be around $5000 for this entire year.
