Retreat for Pediatric Oncology Moms

The moment your told your child has cancer life as you knew it no longer exists. In General parents usually think about their own needs last because thats what parents do, but when the most precious thing in your life is sick nothing else takes priority.  Spending weeks even months sleeping a few minutes at a time in a pull out chair beside your child, surrounded by machines that are constantly beeping, the constant worry of the "what if"  what if she gets a fever?  What if she reacts to this drug too? What if my other children need me? I could go on. We ignore our bodies own signs that we need to rest and the load upon our shoulders gets heavier as our bodies and mind become more tired. 

We have a group of moms in Southwestern Ontario that meet once a month, we use our own experiences with childhood cancer to support eachother because we all understand. For many childhood cancer is like mace in a group of family and friends, they may want to be there for the family but simply do not have the strength to withstand the emotional earthquake that shakes every pediatric families world. Suddenly families often feel alone. Our group of moms makes sure we all know that we have support. 
I want to send these moms on a 2 day retreat where they can rest, recharge, sleep in peace, surrounded by other moms who totally understand.  2 days to build eachother up, remind eachother of the importance of taking care of ourselves so we can take care of our babies.
