Retirement gift for Mrs Brickley

Dear Parent/Community Member/Past pupil,

As you may be aware by now, our wonderful Deputy Principal and teacher Mrs. Miriam Brickley, has announced her intention to retire from her teaching position in Scoil Fionntáin Naofa, Shanahoe after 39 years of outstanding service. Mrs. Brickley (then Miss. Collins) first came to Scoil Fionntáin Naofa, Shanahoe in September 1983, direct from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and she has spent her entire teaching career in the school. She has the distinction of being the longest serving teacher in the history of Shanahoe School which was first founded in 1830, in what is now the Community Hall. Miriam has taught countless numbers of children over the course of the last 39 years, and her work as an educator has always been characterised by extremely high levels of professionalism, dedication, kindness and care.

We are in the process of planning celebrations to mark Mrs. Brickley’s retirement and to ensure that she receives a fitting ‘send off’ at the end of June. A Celebratory Mass for Miriam has been planned for St. Brigid’s Church, Shanahoe for Friday 24th June 2022 at 7:30p.m. All current and past pupils and families and members of the community are warmly welcome to attend this celebration. We are asking that you extend this invite to all family members, classmates and friends who are now living further afield. Different presentations will be made to Miriam in the church on the night and we will then ‘regroup’ in Doogue’s Bar in Raheen for refreshments afterwards.

One of the presentations that will be made on the night will be from the parent body and members of the community. This donation page has been setup for those of you who would like to contribute to the collection for a retirement gift from the community of Shanahoe. All donations would be gratefully appreciated.

Hoping to see you all on Friday 24th June 2022 as we come together to celebrate and give thanks for the immense contribution made by this wonderful teacher and person to education in Shanahoe.
