I’ve never done one of these but I figured I would give it a try to help someone in need. Out of respect for this person’s privacy and dignity I won’t be using any names.
A very sweet DPS Retiree member is in need of some help from our big DPS family. This individual is on a very tight fixed retiree income and is need of a generator to assist them during bad weather events. They have no family in the area to depend on. They require electricity for various pieces of equipment for their health and during cold snaps / hurricanes they lose power, putting them in danger.
I heard this story over the holidays and something told me that I had to help. I was prepared to donate a portable generator for them but they were unable to use this and needed an automatic standby generator. I took the initiative and got a quote from a reputable electrician in the Houston area for them. This electrician also trimmed every bit off that he could after telling him this story.
I know times are tough and everyone is feeling the pinch with inflation but let’s try and do what we can. It doesn’t matter how little you choose to give but just please give something. I’m starting the fund off myself to get things going for them. Let’s get them over the finish line and give them some peace of mind during bad weather events. Anything is much appreciated and God Bless.
