There are two bridges that cross the Narrows from Tacoma to Gig Harbor.
One has been around longer, but it's not original. It reconnected the two sides after the original collapsed. It replaced something that once was with something more stable and enduring.
The other is new. It was built not because the first didn't work, but because we needed to expand. We needed to have a place for new people to cross the divide.
Each of these bridges represents a part of Gig Harbor. Some of our friends, family, and neighbors need the first bridge - they were once connected to God, but that connection has crumbled. Some need the second bridge - they've never been connected and probably don't think there's any room for them.
All are in need of the same thing - they need to experience resurrection life. To personally encounter God on a daily basis. To receive and share God’s love. To apply God’s truth to life. To experience God’s power to change. To build and invest in a Kingdom legacy.
Resurrection Church Gig Harbor is a new church plant that is starting because Gig Harbor needs the resurrection life of Jesus. In a city where need is often seen as weakness, we humbly praise the One who meets us in our places of deepest need. In a community where security is sought through buying and accumulating, we find our security as we surrender our lives to the One who gave them to us. We help our neighbors see and experience resurrection life by living out the resurrection life Jesus has given us. And we imagine a day when every city, every neighborhood, and every person in the South Puget Sound region is impacted by the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It isn’t that Gig Harbor needs one more church to embody the gospel of Jesus. With only one church per two thousand residents, Gig Harbor needs to see churches multiply if we are going to impact every neighborhood and person in this fast-growing community.
We can’t do this alone. And yet, God has called us to step into the work that he has prepared for us to walk in. Will you partner with us? Will you be part of this city experiencing resurrection life? Will you be the bridge that reconnects your neighbor to Jesus? Will you be the bridge that enables people to connect with God for the very first time?
The resources we raise will enable us to function for our first two years as we become financially stable. This will include purchasing needed equipment, finding and potentially renovating a gathering space, equipping our Core Team to be on mission in their neighborhoods, developing leaders, creating community partnerships so that we can impact our city beyond our walls, and investing in future multiplication.
