Resurrect the Yurt Temple

Hello friends and fellow travellers,

My name is Isla and I am reaching out with a request for support to help rebuild the yurt that has been home, temple, midwife and sanctuary for so many people over the years.

Storm Darragh blew through Somerset in December, causing severe damage to the structure of the yurt. The crown, trellis and some of the roof poles need to be replaced for them to stand again, and a new carpet to cover the platform.

I have spent the past 6 weeks digesting their loss and considering whether to let them go entirely... It has become clear that there is still life in them, and with some TLC and repairs they could be standing again by Spring.

To those of you who have stayed in this yurt or received a ceremony here, you will have experienced their warmth and holding and know what a special and sacred place they provide.

The yurt first went up in 2012 in a magical glade surrounded by ancient woodland in Sussex, where I lived in solitude for 2 years, apprenticing to Nature and refining my ritual craft and ceremonial path. As my first home, the yurt (named Fernhazel) soon became a living temple that enabled and inspired so much of my soul healing and the embodiment of my spiritual life.

It was time to move, when 7 months pregnant, I packed up the yurt and headed to Somerset, where it has been ever since. Here, they offered a first home for my son Wren and I, and a bridge for me to return from the forest into the warm embrace of my family.

When Wren started school in 2018 we moved out of the yurt, but they have remained as a temple for me to offer ceremonies and bespoke retreats and a sanctuary for others to come and enjoy the sweetness of firelight, birdsong and a slower pace of life.
