We're a recently established community project run by volunteers, with an goal of restoring the remaining balcony and original seating of the Derby Cinema, located above the function room at The Stanley Club in Burscough and bringing this true gem of Burscough history back to life, and providing affordable community cinema screenings.
Just click 'Read More' for amazing pictures of how it was, and what we need to restore.
The cinema was open from 1907 to 1965 and is believed to be the oldest cinema in West Lancashire. Once restored, we plan to open the balcony to the public for a wide variety of opportunities, offering tours and screenings to groups from local schools to residential homes and community groups, as well as holding regular screenings for the wider public in the balcony and function room at low, affordable prices.
In the interim we're holding public pop-up screenings in the function room of the Stanley Club, we are so thankful for the response and positivity from the community so far.
We can also hold private screenings for Community Groups and Private Parties, subject to availability.
Every single penny donated supports the restoration fund and our goal of permanently #bringingcinemabacktoburscough
