Our Berkeley household, a sanctuary of creativity, refuge, and connection for so many over the decades, has arrived at a tender crossroads. This home, and our precious elders who have nurtured countless lives within it, are facing a moment that calls for community to gather once again.

After years of opening our doors and hearts to others, Wavy, Jah, and the multigenerational household we share are now in need of support to restore and protect this special space. Serious structural challenges, including multiple roof leaks and toxic mold issues, have compromised the safety of the home and the health of the people in it. Mold remediation work has begun, but progress was halted due to limited funds, leaving the work unfinished and the need still urgent.

We are inviting you to help us usher in a new chapter that can only happen with your support. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $200,000 to cover the remediation work, finish the necessary repairs, and fully restore the home to a safe and healthy environment. This will allow our family home to continue as a place where generations can gather, share meals, make music, and experience the warmth of loving community. These funds will also go toward providing ongoing care for Wavy and Jah, ensuring they are supported with dignity and compassion during this crucial time in their lives.

This is an opportunity to give back to people who have given so much, and to breathe new life into a communal home that, when thriving, offers love and hope this world so desperately needs.

Upon completion of this fundraiser, all proceeds will be deposited into a dedicated account established for this project. Oversight of the funds will be provided by a committee of trusted advisors, including Jahanara and the campaign organizers. The committee will work together to ensure that all funds are managed transparently and used exclusively to support the goals outlined in this fundraising effort.
