Help Us Restore a Piece of Spring Valley Fire History
A fire truck is more than steel and chrome—it carries memories and represents generations of firefighters who answered the call to help their neighbors.
In 1952, a brand-new GMC 620 Pumper left the Howe Fire Apparatus Company and eventually became Spring Valley Fire District’s very first fire truck. Originally designated Engine 115 and later renumbered Engine 167, it came to Spring Valley from the City of Independence in 1978.
After decades of service, the old GMC eventually sat idle. But Spring Valley firefighters believed this important piece of history deserved another chance. Through hard work and dedication, they brought it back to life.
In 2026, after years off the road, the 1952 GMC proudly returned in the Independence Day Parade on July 4th—a powerful reminder of the firefighters who came before us and the generations of neighbors helping neighbors.
Help Us Bring It Back to Its Former Glory
Our goal is to fully restore this historic engine so it can continue representing Spring Valley Fire District at parades, community events, open houses, fire service gatherings, and educational events.
This isn't just about restoring an old fire truck. It's about preserving the history, memories, and legacy of the people who built our fire district.
Every donation makes a difference. Whether you give $10, $50, $100, or more, your support helps bring this piece of Spring Valley history one step closer to completion.
