The Toledo Yacht Club (TYC) is one of the oldest yacht clubs in North America, with a proud history dating back to 1865. Our clubhouse, built in 1907 after a devastating fire, is a rare example of early poured concrete construction and has stood as a symbol of community, tradition, and resilience for over a century. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, TYC is not just a gathering place for sailors—it's a living piece of Toledo's heritage and a home for cherished events like the Mills Trophy Race, which has brought together sailors from across the Great Lakes and the nation for over 100 years.
The historic Mills Trophy Race has welcomed recreational sailors from across the country, with numerous trophies and dedicated plaques installed to honor class winners annually. These traditions have made TYC a destination for generations of sailors and a symbol of excellence in the sailing community.
Today, time and the elements have taken their toll on our beloved clubhouse and grounds. Wind, water, and weather have caused significant damage, threatening the future of this historic landmark. We are facing urgent needs: roof replacement, new gutters, repairs to stucco and exterior paint, restoration of stained glass windows, porch resurfacing, dock repairs and code updates, window replacements, interior ceiling repairs, and new heating and A/C units. Without these critical repairs, we risk losing a vital part of our community's story.
We are reaching out to you—our friends, neighbors, and supporters—to help us restore and preserve the Toledo Yacht Club for generations to come. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference in keeping history alive. Please join us in this important effort and help ensure that TYC remains a beacon of tradition, camaraderie, and community on the shores of Lake Erie.
