I never thought i would be typing this.
We are the Gomez family, we currently reside in Oroville,Ca.
We are Jaime and Bianca, we have a beautiful tribe of six kids.
Our dream had always been to own our very own food truck.
Together, we worked very hard to save the funds and make our dream come true.
In 2022 we opened our food truck and named it “Tacos El mariachi”. We both had no idea how to cook but knew that with drive and perseverance, everything in life is possible.
Thankfully, with the help of my mom Maria, she taught us everything we needed to know to get started.
She remained the head chef and always stood by our side, ensuring everything ran smoothly in our food truck.
Unfortunately, tragic stuck our life’s.
Not even 1 month after the grand opening, we unexpectedly lost my mom due to a tragic accident caused by a driver under the influence. She died on impact.
During that same time, I went into premature labor with my twins at only 29 weeks.
With pain in our hearts, a dream to follow, and a family of six kids including newborn preemie twins to take care of, we were forced to keep fighting for our dreams.
We had a rocky start due to so many obstacles life threw at us.
From not having a clue of what to do in that kitchen, to traveling back and forth to see our preemie twins fighting for their lives in the nearest NICU at Sutter, Sacramento.
All while trying to juggle a new life without my mom, newborn twins having respiratory issues, and a new business. (Bills to pay)
However, the passion and the desire to push forward was there.
Before we knew it,we managed to stay consistent & built a good amount of costumers.
Up until today, life seemed perfect.
Our babies have officially weaned off oxygen, and my mom’s legacy was living on through our food truck.
We learned to appreciate the little thing’s in life, which simply made every day a good day for us.
This morning however , the worst and unexpected happened.
The food truck we had poured all our life savings into, the truck that all our community learned to slowly love ,
Engulfed in flames today.
It is a total loss.
The electrical wiring from one of the roof fans on the truck caused the fire to start.
I know for many, this may be a simple food truck.
For my family, it is everything.
Our whole entire life.
This is my mom’s legacy that burnt today.
Our life time savings, our dreams.
Yes, our life has been flipped upside down.
But I know together, we will rise from the ashes and come out stronger than ever.
I am asking for help today, to help my family overcome this horrible tragedy.
But, most importantly the food truck where I was able to in a way feel closer to my mom.
No matter how many days passed after her loss, simply seeing the food truck brought me comfort.
I know my mom has been looking down at us, proud of how far we have come.
My mom plays a huge role in the legacy of “Tacos El mariachi “.
Please help me and my family gather the funds to bring back Tacos El Mariachi.
Maria, my mom deserves her legacy to continue on.
Thank you for everyone that has been reaching out, right now my family is in shock but I promise to get back to everyone as soon as I can.
Sincerely,
The Gomez family
