Restore the Filbert Steps to their former glory
Donation protected
My name is Joan Klass-Levin and I have lived on the beautiful Filbert Steps since 1969. Throughout those years, I have helped maintain the public gardens for the enjoyment of both local residents and the many tourists who walk these stairs every day.
Although the City Parks department is supposed to help maintain the trees, their schedule does it far too infrequently, which stifles the growth underneath. For several years, the upper portion of the gardens has fallen off and needs a lot of work to restore it to its glory.
With the permission of the Parks department, I contracted with a tree trimming service and paid the bill out of my own pocket. I will also be hiring some part time help to weed, install new plants, and ensure proper irrigation in an attempt to beautify this lovely garden setting.
I am 84 years old with limited financial means, but it is very important to me to beautify this area for all. I am asking the public, both local residents and tourists who enjoy this walk every day, to please help me cover the cost. Any donation is greatly appreciated and I hope that my efforts will improve this garden oasis and bring joy to all who pass by.
Thank you,
Joan Klass-Levin
