Restore Stephen's Home for Healing

My name is Betty. I am the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren. I am requesting funds for one of them, Stephen who lives with his Mother and siblings. He was born 21 years ago with severe kidney problems. He, with the constant care of his parents, especially his mother Michelle, had had a happy life. He received a kidney transplant several years ago but like most children he enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He graduated high school and was attending college when his new kidney failed. Due to his health, dialysis routine and his mother's schedule he had to leave college. He has been on dialysis for the past several months, while he awaits a new kidney. He was told that he could have home dialysis. The staff made a home visit, but found his home unsuitable for this. His grandfather, Joe and I started looking for housing. It was like a miracle, we found a two bedroom, affordable mobile home that was for sale. We purchased it with most of our savings. My husband worked diligently to get it ready for Steve and his mother. They happily moved in 10 days ago. On Sunday, March 30, Steve woke to his bedroom filled with smoke. He woke his mother and quickly with no shoes they evacuated the home. When they go outside they saw the flames coming out the roof. My husband is hoping to restore the home but we are requesting funds to do it as our savings are almost depleted. With his first kidney, Steve for the first time understood what healthy felt like. We are hoping when he gets his next kidney transplant, he will resume his studies and live a happy, healthy life. He needs a home to recover and heal. Please help Steve
