Restore Rizal Park's Stolen Heritage
Donation protected
Rizal Park and Bridge Preservation Society (RPBPS)originally started by a small group of passionate individuals who recognized the importance of protecting a particular cultural heritage back in early 80’s and who also advocated in the naming of the Rizal Park and Bridge in the early 1970’s. It’s because of their efforts we have a park in Seattle that is named dr Jose Rizal, Philippines National Hero and also the only bridge in the nation named after Dr Jose Rizal. (Not to be confused with Dr Jose Rizal Park and Bridge Foundation, this is a different organization )
On October 12th or 13th the Bronze plaques were taken as well as a historical time capsule to be opened 20/30/40 years from now.
We are organizing a fundraiser to restore and replicate those plaques that were taken and hoping someone will find the time capsule and return to us! Reward available thru the funds raised!
Pls help In raising awareness of heightened crime and vandalism at the park lately! It’s been unsafe and neighbors in the beacon hill community have complained about gang and drug activity in the parking lot/view point late at night as well as gunshots and a recent murder. This fundraiser will be allocated for the plaques only but if we can raise more funds more lighting at the monument, speed
bumps and a gate at night for the parking lot are just a few things to be done to alleviate crime in the area. Pls help make Dr Jose Rizal Park safe again!
