Thursday night, July 3rd, a fire broke out right outside of my mother’s seasonal camper in Fenwick Island Delaware. Though the fire scorched close by neighbors, it completely engulfed my moms leaving nothing but the metal frame.

Our family has been a member of the Treasure Beach community for well over 20 years- growing up there has been one of my fondest memories. There wasn’t a year that went by that we couldn’t wait to get back to “our beach house”.

As life does, my mother’s been dealt a fair amount of heart ache and bad luck but no matter what, she always returned to Treasure Beach. It was her favorite place, her safe place- where problems seemed to disappear as she surrounded herself with family and friends, which she always invited and included in her time down the shore. Including her two grandsons who equally shared their love and excitement when the time came to go to “Gigi’s Beach”.

She is absolutely devastated that her second home is gone, along with all the memories that were kept inside. As her daughter, as someone that grew up in the park, as someone who looked forward to seeing her own babies grow up there- I want nothing more than for her to have the chance to be able to go back.
