“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” -Dalai Lama
As a frequent traveler, Jamaica has always stuck out to me. Everything about this island is unforgettable- the food, the culture, the music, the people especially. The energy of the country is immeasurable by words alone, and if you have had the opportunity to take a trip over there then you know it speaks for itself.
The effects from Hurricane Melissa have been disastrous.
Over the past few months during my travels to Jamaica, I have been welcomed and felt loved by the people in the Lethe River Community. I was asked to set up this fundraiser on behalf of a friend and local business owner, Ms. Sandra. With unreliable service and power during these times, she felt it would be more effective for me to set this up and facilitate it.
For those who were most likely introduced to Lethe River because of the popular bamboo rafting excursion, you may have also stopped by her restaurant after the rafting tour. Her restaurant was connected to the shop that supplied food, drinks, and other toiletries for not only the tourists that walk through, but also the locals who work in the area.
Every year, she gives back to the community by hosting a Back to School bash for the children before returning to their studies for the upcoming year.
Ms. Sandra is one of many Jamaicans who lost her hard earned means of income due to Hurricane Melissa. Attached are pictures she sent me to show the loss of infrastructure. What was once an inviting dining establishment is now left with solely a counter.
With your generous donations, she will be able to rebuild her business and assist in the reconstructions of surrounding establishments.
I have never experienced another place like Jamaica. It is truly a blessing to be welcomed by the locals there and witness their true happiness for life. Their deeply rooted connection to nature and undeniable pride for their country truly speaks measures for how deserving they are for some financial assistance to rebuild their homes, their businesses, and their environment.
All proceeds with be sent to Ms. Sandra directly.
