This fundraiser is organized by Naman Reddy Avala, a grade 9 student at Melissa High School in Texas, to support the restoration of the 500-year-old temple tank (Koneru) at Koneti Anjaneya Swami Temple in Kalva village, Orvakal Mandal, Kurnool District Andhra Pradesh.

On March 1st, 2026, something extraordinary happened in Kalva village. Volunteer Yugandhar Raju, deeply committed to preserving history, initiated a call to restore the temple tank. Over 100 volunteers gathered on the very first day, beginning the challenging work of cleaning and reviving this sacred water tank, a structure built during the Vijayanagara Empire. Yugandhar has chosen to remain at the temple until the cleanup is complete, showing remarkable dedication to this cause.

This is not just a pond, it is a living piece of heritage. The Koneru has served as a sacred ritual space, a community gathering center, a water conservation system, and an architectural marvel. Today, however, the structure faces serious threats: steps are buried in debris, pillars show signs of erosion, carved sculptures are destroyed and displaced, vegetation is weakening the stone, and drainage systems are blocked. Without intervention, this historic site will continue to deteriorate.

Our restoration plan is unfolding in phases.

The first phase focuses on supporting volunteers with cleaning, securing, and making the area safe. Volunteers are removing debris, clearing pathways, installing temporary lighting, and documenting the structure.

The next phase will involve structural assessments and expert guidance to ensure the restoration preserves the temple’s historical integrity. Funds raised will directly support these efforts covering materials, tools, safety equipment, professional consultations, and the well-being of the volunteers.
