My name is Kentan Facey and my family and I are raising funds to support my hometown, the Parish of Trelawny, Jamaica, as our community recovers from the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa. Much of the parish remains without power, communication, or essential services, leaving families struggling to access food, clean water, and basic supplies.

I lived in Trelawny with my family until I was 17 and left for the United States to play basketball. I graduated from Long Island Lutheran, then went on to become a National Champion at UCONN, and now have 7 years of experience playing professional basketball in Europe. I am lucky to have amassed such an amazing community, and am tapping everyone for help to assist my family, friends and neighbors rebuild our home.

We are currently working directly with local leadership, including the Trelawny Municipal Corporation (Mayor’s Office) and members of Parliament from the parish, to identify the areas of greatest need and ensure every dollar is wisely spent.

All funds raised here will go directly toward relief and rebuilding in Trelawny. Here is how we plan to use them:

• Food and basic supplies: We will purchase food items from local grocers in Trelawny, for example, supermarkets like PriceMart, and have them delivered directly to impacted families.

• Building materials and repair supplies: We will purchase high demand items such as zinc/aluminium sheeting, wood, nails, tools and labour from reputable local vendors (for example, companies such as Tankweld Supplies Ltd.). We are in the process of collecting estimates and will provide vendor confirmation and receipts once secured.

• Coordination with local authorities: We will work side by side with local authorities in Trelawny to oversee logistics, ensure transparency and direct support where it is most needed.

How we ensure transparency & legitimacy:

• I, Kentan Facey and my wife are the named recipients of the campaign and will oversee the planning, logistics and execution of relief efforts in Trelawny.

• We will provide regular updates on this GoFundMe page, including photos, videos and descriptions of how and where funds are spent.

• We will keep detailed records of major purchases (vendor names, invoices, delivery confirmation) and will report on how funds translate into real-world impact.
