Help Them Rebuild Their Dream Home for Their Son with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy

Their Story

They are Trevor and Amber Jensen and I am reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to find help for them.

They are the proud parents of an incredible little boy Lawrence (LJ), who lives with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. He is non-verbal, has a left-side motor deficit, and has faced more medical challenges than most people do in a lifetime. Due to a hole in his skull at birth, he underwent Meningocele repair and shunt placement surgery at a very young age. He requires 24-hour monitoring and a space for him to navigate safely. Despite everything, he continues to inspire us and everyone around him every day with his strength and resilience.

Amber is a hard working mother who always puts everyone before herself. She has dedicated her life to her children, ensuring they grow up to be amazing human beings.

She would never open a hand for help but rather figure it out on our own but, this ended up being bigger than them. They dreamed of building a home that would be safe, accessible, and filled with love. A place where their son and family could thrive and grow together in comfort and security. A place that is loved and can be passed along and kept in our family for years to come.

Trevor is a hard working father. Who does nothing more than try to provide and make the best life for his family. Last year Trevor battled lung cancer. Through treatments and days he wanted to give up, he never wavered, and continued to do everything to provide for his family. They made it possible to build their dream home not knowing the future. He is always one to help and would give you the shirt off his back. They would all put themselves behind everyone and are reluctant to ask for help.

️ The Sacrifices They Made

To make that dream a reality, they made enormous sacrifices. In an effort to save money and invest every dollar into their future, they lived in their camper throughout the building process through a cold and unforgiving Wisconsin winter. What seemed like a good idea at the time quickly became a source of immense stress. The cramped space, harsh weather, many arising issues along the way, and constant uncertainty took a toll on all their physical and mental health. This lead to several medical concerns for all of them. Still, they pushed forward, believing it would all be worth it in the end.

The Devastating Outcome

Unfortunately, the contractor they trusted with their dream turned it into a nightmare.

From the beginning, they raised concerns—about materials, timelines, and workmanship—but they were constantly dismissed, told they were “just homeowners” who didn’t understand the building process. They tried to trust the process. They tried to trust him.

One of the most devastating moments came when he poured the foundation during rain, unfavorable weather. They knew something wasn’t right. They voiced their concerns as well did as well, but he brushed them off, assuring us it was “no big deal” and could be easily repaired. So, they believed him. They wanted to believe him. We all did. That trust was a terrible mistake.

It wasn’t until the house was nearly finished—after they had poured every last dollar and ounce of hope into it—that he finally admitted the truth: the foundation and floor were unrepairable. There was nothing he could do.

Desperate, they suggested filing an insurance claim. That’s when they discovered something even more horrifying: the insurance policy he had shown them was fake. He had never carried insurance throughout the entire build, despite signing contracts and making repeated claims that he was fully insured.

They were left with a structurally compromised home, no financial recourse, and a deep sense of betrayal. The damage—both to their home and to them personally—is something they never imagined they would have to endure.

Now, they’re left with a home riddled with structural and safety issues. Items that need to be reinstalled such as siding, soffit, fascia, door frames, foundation, and window frames, some of which are unfixable without a complete teardown. The work needed is extensive. The cost of repairing what can be fixed exceeds $80,000 not including fixing the foundation. On top of that, the use of substandard and incorrect materials caused their home’s appraisal to drop, pushing them to the edge of their loan-to-value ratio and making it impossible to borrow additional funds to make things right.

Why We’re Asking for Help

They have exhausted their savings. They don’t have the means to correct the issues or pursue legal action. And they are out of options.

Throughout this journey, they have been blessed with the support of family and friends who have helped in every way we could. But the disaster the contractor left them with is simply too much for us to handle alone.

they are not people who ask for help easily. But today, we are humbly reaching out—to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers—for support. Whether it’s a monetary donation, help with repairs, or simply keeping them in your thoughts and prayers and sharing this story, we are deeply grateful for anything you can offer.

How You Can Help

Every dollar raised will go directly toward making their home safe, accessible, and livable—especially for their son, who deserves a space that supports his needs and gives him the best possible quality of life.

If you can’t donate, please consider sharing their story. Your support—no matter how big or small—it will mean the world to them.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping them find hope again.

With heartfelt gratitude,
