Yesterday, (November 25th 2025) My mother (Lola Haught) was scammed over the phone. We usually get up to 12 calls a day from people claiming to be this or that, asking for money and we've ALWAYS been on top of their games. Not falling for any of their tricks. I suppose they finally figured a way to scare my Mom (Lola) enough into taking her & my dads money. She was scammed out of pretty much the whole bank account. Pretending to be her bank, filling her head with lies, she got scared. I think we've all been scared a time or two when it comes to our bank accounts and the money involved. What makes it even worse is that the Holidays are upon us, and we're now not only struggling to get the bills paid, but Thanksgiving & Christmas too. I don't really know how to help other than starting this gofundme.

If you've been scammed before, than you know the amount of emotions that follow. Anger, sadness, grief on repeat too. It's maddening to realize that someone could be so cruel and dehumanizing. It's not fair that they do these things and get away with it, no matter how many times it's been filed with the police (which they did do), it continues to Happen to good, hard working people too.

Although, my parents are both retired and only have a set amount of income now, and for some inhuman, unkind, demoralizing "person" to come in and take what isn't theirs and didn't work hard to earn, leaving my parents with nothing. No way to buy groceries, pay bills such as electricity, and fret while they're having to make call after call to these companies so the heat won't be shut off, rinse and repeat.

They should be allowed to enjoy their retirement without fear of things such as this happening to them, but the sad part is this happens daily to people just trying to live life in this crazy world.

If you know my parents, you know they're good, kind hearted, trusting country folk. They give when they can, & always have a smile, a laugh and a hug if needed and wanted. They didn't deserve this to happen to them. No one does. Being scammed out of your own money is a feeling we hope no one ever has to deal with, it's a heart break that hits you to the very core. Especially with the Holiday's coming, Doctor appointments lined up and medication both of them need at their age.

We really don't know what else to do other than try this website, pray, & learn a lesson along the way.

If you can find it in your heart to donate whatever you can, our family, my parents would be eternally grateful. We do realize that times are hard for everyone at the moment, and as I said before, Christmas is approaching very soon, it's difficult for everyone right now. However, whatever you can do in this time of madness would be extremely appreciated.
