Restore Historic Preachers Hill Home

Donation protected
The house at 219 Clark Street in Longview, Texas, has stood for over a century as a symbol of resilience and community. Originally owned by Ella Loyd and now heir property to her twelve children and their descendants, this home is more than just a building—it is a pillar in the neighborhood and a vital part of both national and church history. Located on Preachers Hill, a site recognized by the Texas Historical Commission, the house has witnessed generations of family gatherings, community events, and moments that shaped the local culture.

Today, the house faces urgent challenges. The roof and foundation need immediate repair, as the pier and beam structure must be leveled to ensure safety. The wiring, water, and gas lines all require updates to meet city codes, and the porches—once welcoming spaces for neighbors and friends—are in need of care. Without these critical repairs, the future of this historic home is at risk.

Our vision is to restore the house as a community space, inspiring future generations to see what can be achieved through hard work and determination, even in the face of adversity. With support from the Texas Historical Commission and the dedication of Ella Loyd’s descendants, we are committed to preserving this landmark. Your help will ensure that the legacy of Preachers Hill continues to uplift and unite the community for years to come.
