Restore Heat to First Congregational Church of Oakland

Donation protected
First Congregational Church of Oakland seeks your support to restore heat to the building.

For more than a century, FCCO has been a beacon of light and hope, supporting education, the arts, and social justice. Located at 2501 Harrison Street, the building will reach a significant milestone in November of 2025 as it turns 100 years old. After a century of existence, we are still dedicated to being a local hub for community events such as concerts, weddings, film screenings, speaking engagements, meetings, and other community events. The building is also home to a handful of vital nonprofit organizations.

As we prepare for the cold winter season, we are faced with the stark reality that our boiler, which provides heat to the Sanctuary, Chapel, and Reidenbach Hall, is completely out of order and requires a series of three repairs to get it back up and running. Without these repairs, we will be unable to provide heat and warmth during the cold winter months.

We are humbly seeking support from you, our beloved community, friends, and neighbors, in helping us cover the cost of repairs in order to provide heat to those who will utilize our facilities this winter. We are asking for additional funds in order to offset the cost of the PG&E bill, which drastically increases while the boiler is in use. Additional funds will go towards the cost of restoring heat to the Angel Room & basement, gutter cleaning and some much needed electrical repairs in the Chapel, parking lot and building exterior.

Your donations will be used for the following:
$13,000.00 - boiler repairs + Angel Room & basement heater repairs
$6,000 - electrical repairs to Chapel, parking lot lighting and building exterior
$5,000.00 - additional PG&E expenses while using the boiler during winter months
$1,000.00 - gutter cleaning

We are seeking to raise enough funds to move forward with the repairs by December 15, 2025. Your contribution, no matter how large or small, is deeply valued and greatly appreciated. Please share with your fellow community members, particularly anyone who has enjoyed the benefits of gathering at our beautiful community building.
