Help a Single Mom Replace Car Destroyed by a Fire

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Anthony Morris, and I am reaching out to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers because my mom, Dana, is in desperate need of some support.

On Sunday, July 13th, a fire started in the garage and destroyed my mom’s only car, a 2013 Ford Escape. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the transportation my mother depends on has suddenly been destroyed. Although she has full coverage car insurance, she still owes on the loan, which means the settlement funds will only pay off the remaining balance she owes, leaving her with no transportation.
Her car was the lifeline she and my two siblings depended on to survive.
My mom is the strongest woman I know. She has shown us what true strength, determination, and sacrifice look like. She has always been our rock, our safe place, our biggest fan! My mom believes in the power of kindness, and she goes out of her way to bring a little love to every person she encounters, even when she is struggling herself. She would literally give you the shirt off her back if you needed it, and expect nothing in return. Just that you 'pay it forward' when you get the opportunity. She is selfless, compassionate, and truly sees the good in everyone. My mother is the type of person this world needs more of. She needs help now, and I want to do everything in my power to ensure she regains her sense of security and peace of mind.
This car was more than just transportation for my family. My 16-year-old sister, Alyssa, is an honor roll student and an athlete. She wants to play college volleyball and is working hard to get a scholarship. My mom drives Alyssa to and from practices, volleyball clinics, showcases, and tournaments to support my sisters' dream of becoming a star college volleyball player. My little brother, Adan, is 5 years old and diagnosed with Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder and Non-verbal with a language disorder. He has therapy from Monday to Friday, and the car was the way to get him out for enrichment activities, nature therapy, and peer socialization. While my mom does not mind using public transportation, it is not a sustainable option for Adan. He gets overwhelmed easily, unexpectedly, and sometimes requires them to exit the bus abruptly. When my mom is not taking Alyssa where she needs to go, or ensuring Adan gets the help he needs, she is bettering herself and furthering her education. She is a full-time student, working towards her BS degree to become a litigation paralegal one day. Because she cannot work a traditional job right now, her income is extremely limited. To make ends meet, she goes out at night to collect bottles and aluminum cans to recycle. Without a car, her ability to recycle has come to a halt. My mom is self-sufficient, kind, and spends far more time giving than she ever does receiving. So, I am asking very humbly to please help me get her a safe and reliable used car so that she can continue to support my siblings and provide the best life she can for them.

If you’re able to give, know that every single cent is greatly appreciated. Even if you are unable to donate, it would mean so much if you would take a minute to share this story with family, friends, church family, and coworkers via social media platforms, e-mail, or in person. Every dollar and every share will bring us one step closer to our goal.

With sincere gratitude,
