South River Studios Fire Recovery Fund – Support Displaced Artists

On the morning of November 12th, a sudden and devastating fire tore through South River Studios in Atlanta — a shared creative space home to multiple artists, fabricators, sculptors, woodworkers, and makers. Within minutes, entire workspaces were reduced to twisted metal, scorched tools, collapsed structures, and ash.

The images above show the reality we are now facing:

• Burned-out equipment and machinery

• Destroyed sculptures and works in progress

• Collapsed mezzanines and work bays

• Total loss of tools, materials, and personal workspaces

South River Studios has always been more than a building. It’s a collaborative ecosystem — a place where artists support each other, share resources, and build their livelihoods side by side. This fire didn’t damage one studio; it disrupted an entire creative community.

Many artists here experienced complete loss. Generators, welders, saws, dust collection systems, metalworking tools, CNC equipment, sculptures, lumber, hardware, commissioned work — all gone. Several artists relied on this space as their only means of producing work and earning income.

Insurance coverage varies from tenant to tenant, and in many cases, it does not cover the true extent of the loss. That’s why this GoFundMe has been created — to support the entire South River Studios community as we work to rebuild, relocate, and recover.
