My name is Dujuan John, founder of Catch A Good Feeling C.I.C., a community interest company that supports local people through angling, outdoor learning, environmental restoration and mental wellbeing activities.
We have recently taken on the lease for Old Barnburgh Pond, a beautiful but neglected rural pond resting in a quiet field surrounded by wildlife and farmland. Over the years, the pond has become heavily silted, overgrown, and generally unsafe for public use. But with the right restoration work, it has the potential to become a thriving community hub for:
Local wildlife & biodiversity
Angling sessions for all ages
Mental wellbeing & outdoor therapy
Youth engagement & learning
Family-friendly community events
Environmental education & conservation activities
We’ve already started planning a full restoration programme. With your help, we aim to:
Clear and deepen the pond to improve water quality
Install an aerator/pump to protect fish and habitats
Build a small outdoor unit to house essential equipment
Create safe access routes, platforms and volunteer areas
Reintroduce oxygenating plants and wildlife-friendly features
Make the site safe and welcoming for children, families and older adults
Our mission is simple:
Transform Old Barnburgh Pond into a safe, peaceful, nature-rich space that benefits the whole community for many years to come.
Your donation will directly support the restoration work and help us turn this neglected pond into a vibrant natural space where people can relax, learn, fish, heal and connect with nature.
Your support will help fund:
- Pond clearance & deepening
- Aerator + pump & electrical installation
- Safe access/paths
- Tools, equipment & storage unit
- Habitat creation (plants, reeds, oxygenators)
- Safety signage
- Volunteer support days
Every £1 goes directly into improving the pond and supporting community wellbeing.
If you can’t donate, please share our campaign — it makes a huge difference.
Thank you for helping us bring Barnburgh Pond back to life.
