Back in 2015, I filed for separation but had to remain in the house because I would not leave my kids behind. For 4 months, I had to deal with a mentally, verbally, and physically abusive husband who threatened to keep my kids from me. In 2016, we made an agreement: 50/50 legal and physical custody. In 2020, my ex took me to court to get full custody of our 3 kids. He used several things against me, including the fact that I didn’t want my kids to get the vax right away, that I didn’t care if we landed on the moon (yes, it was asked), and because I showed too much animosity during the time of our separation and a couple of years after. The judge granted him sole legal and primary physical custody. It didn’t matter that I did all of the caretaking prior. Now, 5 years later, I’ve asked several times to have 50/50 physical custody back but have been denied.

My kids, 16, 14, and 12, are unhappy with the schedule, and my youngest still breaks down because of it. They just want it to be equal, as do I.
