Rest Easy Baby Rebel Higgs - July 7th, 2021

July 7th, 2021 Rebel Higgs left our world to spend a little more time with her Papa Layne.

Ashley and Robert woke up Wednesday morning like every average day. The baby was kicking and moving, Libby (Ashley’s Daughter/Roberts Step-daughter) had a birthday the next day that she couldn’t be more thrilled about, there was a excitement in the air. It wasn’t until that evening that Ashley felt uneasy and had concern for her daughter in womb (Rebel). She hadn’t felt movement in some time and decided to phone her doctor who directed her to go in to get checked out for peace of mind. That’s all Ashley and Robert wanted was some peace of mind.

With no prior issues there was little reason to worry. Ashley is a healthy young adult and had a healthy pregnancy with Libby and no issues leading up to Wednesday with baby Rebel. Still, being cautious they decided to go in to get checked out..

When Ashley and Robert arrived at the hospital there was no heart beat for little Rebel, she had passed and there was nothing that could be done to bring her back.. Ashley and Robert being as amazing and thoughtful as they are made the quick decision to have an emergency C-Section in order to have baby Rebel born the day before her big sisters birthday in order to preserve that day for Libby. Imagine hearing the worst news of your life and you have the presence of mind to ask for an emergency C-Section to preserve a special day for your other daughter. Incredible parents. As is to be expected unimaginable pain and sorrow has been the only emotion available for both Mom and Dad.

Ashley has said she draws a little solace from knowing that Rebel is being taken care of by her best friend and dad Layne Hobbs who passed from Cancer 8 years ago. Anyone and everyone who knew Layne knows that he is a special type of man. He raised some kick ass resilient kids.

At this time Robert and Ashley are understandably asking for some privacy while they sort through their emotions. Please give them the privacy they deserve.
