Roseline Ebunobi, and her trusted friend Chiamaka Muruako have come up with an innovative solution to address and resolve the tragic problem threatening the future of Nigerian youths; Unemployment.

They run an innovation hub in Abuja under a registered non-profit organization, Roseline Ebunobi Foundation (REF) with registration number-CAC/IT/NO 85145, 2016 where they train underserved and underprivileged Nigerian youths within their community  on digital literacy and proficiency and entrepreneurial skills  to prepare them for the future of work absolutely free of charge.
Youth unemployment is a major social issue currently affecting Nigeria’s economy and society.

Over the years, there has been a rise in corruption, unemployment, income inequality, bad governance and a poor education system in Nigeria and this is very afflictive and challenging due to lack of access to jobs, social grants or educational levels necessary to integrate successfully into a harsh labour market. This is a clear indicator that young persons who are unemployed are vulnerable when they are not engaged in positive ventures so they are more likely to be perpetrators, as well as victims of crime. This is a threat to national development.

It was reported that about 5000 youths engaged in the Shi’ite Muslim brawl in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, on Monday the 22nd of July 2019. The brawl consequently turned violent leading to so many fatalities and countless injuries.  Living conditions have been harsh for Nigerian youths, an estimated 95% of whom are without a source of livelihood.

Through Project 1000 Initiative, about 150 youths have been trained so far with limited resources. They are presently experiencing a massive inflow of youths requesting to be a part of this training, unfortunately, the project has not been able to accommodate this inflow due to lack of resources such as electricity,  internet, computers, and laptops, hence the appeal to the public.

They strongly believe that this project will be beneficial to these youths as it will positively engage and equip them with potentials and skills for the future of work.
