I’m an art teacher and maker working on an ambitious geometric sculpture: a Pentagonal Hexecontahedron made from individually cast resin panels. I began this project years ago but had to pause because I didn’t have the proper equipment to cast clear, bubble-free resin parts. Now I want to complete it to the best of my ability, using professional casting techniques such as vacuum degassing, pressure casting, and custom silicone molds. Each face will be cast separately, polished, and assembled into a precise geometric form that explores light, transparency, and shifting color through the use of dichroic film.
To complete this project, I need to purchase 4 gallons of EpoxAcast 692 Deep Pour resin, 1 gallon of Mold Star 30 silicone, a 2.5 gallon pressure pot, a 3 gallon vacuum chamber, dichroic film, and some funds for safety and finishing materials. These materials and tools are essential for casting, assembling, and finishing the sculpture to a professional standard. The final sculpture will be exhibited and used in my classroom to teach geometry, art, and fabrication techniques. I will also document the entire process so students and other artists can learn from the project.
Your support will help me inspire others and bring this vision to life. Thank you for believing in the power of art, education, and creative exploration!
