Half marathon run for Street Child!

Hello lovely friends and family! In September 2020 I will be heading off to Nepal to take part in a very exciting research project with Street Child in Kathmandu to work as a research and programmes assistant. Street Child is a charity which aims to empower vulnerable children through education in parts of Africa and Asia. Street Child Nepal conducts important research which contributes to the development of inclusive education programmes for marginalised children, and examines the chronic and acute vulnerabilities in slum and squatter settlements heavily affected by the 2015 earthquake.

This voluntary role is also incredibly exciting for me personally, as it gives me the chance to get hands on experience conducting and analysing research which will inform future initiatives and benefit over 10,000 women and girls.

As part of this role, I have a goal of raising £1500 for Street Child. In order to achieve this, I have made the insane decision to run the Hackney HALF MARATHON on May 17th!!!!!  I will be running this with the wonderful Miraj Mistry to keep me company. Anyone who knows us (especially me) will know how completely overly ambitious and ridiculous this is. I am not exactly a fitness queen so this is going to be an absolutely mega challenge, and any donations that could spur us on would be hugely appreciated!

Any money raised on this page will be transferred from myself directly to the charity and all other costs related to the trip will be self-funded. Currently Street Child is in the middle of partaking in the UK Aid Match appeal, which means that anything raised for Street Child before the 3rd March 2020 will be matched by the UK government. This means that raising the target of £1500  would actually become £3000!

To give you an idea about what your money would go towards:
- £30 can send a child to school for a whole year
- £60 can provide a mother with a business grant
- £100 can provide learning materials for a whole classroom of students
- £250 can train a teacher to improve the quality of teaching

As you can see, a donation of any size will go a long way!

Please share this page with family and friends- the more money raised, the more Street Child can achieve in their vital work!
Thank you for reading and for any money you can spare (it will be greatly appreciated!), Mol and Miraj x
