Professional Background & Mission
I spent approximately 17 years as a TV cinematographer and technical director in Japan, specializing in high-profile sports broadcasts and major event production. Following this, I graduated from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at New York University (NYU). After my graduation, I collaborated with colleagues from NYU and Columbia University on various multimedia projects. My career has been built on the ability to capture dynamic, historical moments with professional precision and a deep understanding of media technology.
September 2001: Documenting Resilience
On September 11, 2001, I rushed back to a grieving New York. Driven by a professional duty, I began filming as soon as restrictions around Ground Zero were lifted on September 19.
Through December 2001, I captured 1,000 minutes (17 hours) of footage on Sony HDCam—the highest definition technology of that era. My lens focused not just on the devastation, but on the vivid, intimate details of human solidarity and the quiet strength of New Yorkers rebuilding their lives.
The 25-Year Race Against Time
As we approach the 25th anniversary in 2026, 90% of this archive remains trapped on aging physical tapes. These original recordings are reaching the end of their lifespan due to magnetic degradation. Without immediate digitization, this professional record of history will vanish forever.

【プロジェクトの背景と目的】
私は約17年間にわたり、日本でTVカメラマンおよび映像技術ディレクターとして、スポーツ中継や大型イベントなどの番組制作に従事してきました。その後、ニューヨーク大学（NYU）大学院のITP（Interactive Telecommunications Program）を卒業し、NYUやコロンビア大学の有志と共にマルチメディア制作に携わってきました。

2001年9月11日。出張先で事件を知った私は、3日後の14日にニューヨークへ戻りました。混沌とする街の中で、映像のプロとして「この再生の過程を記録し、後世に残さなければならない」という強い使命感を抱きました。
入場制限が解除された9月19日から12月末まで、プロ仕様のHDCamで約1,000分（約17時間）にわたりマンハッタンを記録し続けました。そこには、惨劇の跡だけでなく、テロの恐怖に屈せず行われた10月のコロンバスパレードや、市民の祈り、団結、そして力強い日常が鮮明に収められています。
25年目の危機：磁気テープを救いたい
2026年、事件から25年を迎えます。しかし、この貴重な記録の90%は依然として物理テープの中に眠っています。25年の歳月を経て、テープは磁気剥離などの物理的劣化の限界を迎えており、今デジタル化しなければ、この歴史的記録は永遠に失われてしまいます。
