[Urgent Update: 3 Months into the Campaign – We Need Your Help to Unlock the Tapes]
As of today, we are still fighting to secure the specialized HDCAM hardware and high-endurance archival storage (SSDs) required to play and digitize these 17 hours of rare footage.
Currently, we have NO equipment and NO SSDs to even hold the data. My professional time and multi-media editing station are fully volunteered—but the vital hardware and storage are still completely missing. We cannot begin the rescue without this "key."
With the 25th anniversary approaching this September 2026, we are running out of time before these physical tapes degrade forever.

Mission: Rescuing 1,000 Minutes of 9/11 NYC Recovery from Degrading Tapes.
I am a professional cinematographer, former Technical Director with 17 years of experience in Japan, and a graduate of New York University’s ITP. In September 2001, driven by a professional duty to document the resilience of New York City, I captured 1,000 minutes (17 hours) of crucial aftermath and recovery footage on professional HDCAM tapes.
A Race Against Time and Chemical Decay
90% of this unique archive has never been seen by the public. It remains trapped on physical tapes that are now reaching the absolute end of their 25-year lifespan. Magnetic tapes degrade chemically;
if we do not digitize them now, this "collective memory of humanity" will be lost to history forever.
I am volunteering 100% of my professional time, expertise, and high-end editing equipment. I am not asking for a salary. I am asking for the physical tools to make this rescue possible.
Where Your Donation Goes (100% Transparency):
A professional archival project of this scale usually costs over $12,000 in studio fees. By volunteering my labor, I’ve eliminated those costs, but I cannot self-fund the specialized hardware:
- HDCAM Deck Acquisition/Rental: Our immediate hurdle. We need to secure the playback deck to unlock the footage.
- High-Endurance Archival Storage (SSDs): To safely receive and preserve massive, uncompressed HD data for future generations.
- 25th Anniversary Memorial Screening (Sept 2026): To host a public, non-profit community dialogue and screening in NYC using the rescued footage.

私は約17年間にわたり、日本でTVカメラマンおよび映像技術ディレクターとして従事した後、ニューヨーク大学（NYU）大学院のITPを卒業し、現地の仲間と共にマルチメディア制作に携わってきた映像のプロフェッショナルです。
2001年9月11日。混沌とするニューヨークの街の中で、「この再生と復興の過程を記録し、後世に残さなければならない」という強い使命感を抱き、入場制限解除直後の9月19日から12月末まで、プロ仕様のHDCAMカメラで約1,000分（17時間）にわたりマンハッタンの真実を記録し続けました。
タイムリミットは今：物理的劣化との戦い
このアーカイブの90%は、未だ世に出ていません。そして2026年の今、テープは磁気劣化の物理的限界（寿命）を迎えています。今デジタル化しなければ、この「人類の共有財産」は文字通り永遠に消え去ります。
本プロジェクトは「完全なボランティア活動」です。私は技術と個人の編集PCを無償提供しますが、個人ではどうしても賄えない「物理的な実費」について、皆様のご支援を必要としています。

本来、この規模の作業をプロのスタジオに依頼すれば、機材レンタルと作業費で$12,000（約180万円）以上かかります。私自身の奉仕により人件費等はカットしますが、以下の実費が必要です。
