Replanting the Fig Tree

We are transplanting The Fig Tree across the street!

Last year, the owners of 222 Vernon Street decided against renewing the lease for The Fig Tree Coffee Art & Music Lounge. This forced the Fig Tree owners, Father Joshua and Rachel Lickter, to make the difficult decision to look for a new location for their extremely popular Downtown Roseville destination. A few months ago, an opportunity opened up for them at 217 Vernon Street, directly across the street from their current location. The property owners, the Bogetich family, were excited at the prospect of having the Fig Tree as tenants, and the Lickters welcomed the opportunity to establish a partnership with them that would allow The Fig Tree to remain on Vernon Street indefinitely.

Plans are currently in place for The Fig Tree to transplant itself across the street in the Summer of 2022. Before that can happen, the Lickters are making some improvements to the location that will allow them to continue the current Fig Tree aesthetic that regulars know and love, while also allowing them to utilize the new location’s kitchen space. The kitchen will allow them to expand their menu to include pre-made breakfast and lunch options, and give them a venue to manufacture a larger assortment of gluten free pastry items. They will continue to showcase local art on their walls, and host live music throughout the week. They will also re-start their much missed Saturday Evening Open Mic Nights.

The Fig Tree has always been a labor of love for the community, and the Lickters want to provide their regulars with an opportunity to be co-participants in this transplant. They have set up a platform for patrons to become “Lifetime” and/or “Legacy” Members, which will come with incentives like life-time discounts and free drip coffee, limited edition coffee mugs, free access to “Members Only” events like cuppings and tastings, a place in a Fig Tree wall mural, and other benefits.
