Replacing a girl's stolen bike

Hi there, my name is Diggory, and I'm creating this GoFundMe at the request of the community to help replace a young girl's stolen bike.

The bike was stolen today, 7-15-2021, during Na Hoa Holomoku's youth summer camp, which I and a handful of others help run. The young girl in question is one of our youth volunteers- a very special individual who not only displays chart-topping sailing capabilities, but also has an incredible level of patience and dedication, as well as a can-do attitude towards all things. All in all, an awesome kid, and one we are so lucky to have in our program. She is so good with the younger kids, helping them accomplish the ever so intimidating act of sailing a boat all on their own. Active as ever and using up all the energy kids are blessed with at that age, this girl also has swim practice right after camp most days, riding her bike about a mile to get to. The bike was one she borrows from her mother, who has had it for many many years.

Our youth volunteering program was set up to help kids who can't always afford to attend these camps be able to get more time on the water, almost like a junior work-trade program. This girl has given countless hours of her time to helping others within our community, and I've been blown away with the response the community has made in regards to helping replace her bike. When we first noticed the bike was stolen this afternoon, I made a frustrated post on the Big Island Thieves Facebook page about the situation, and, gosh, talk about aloha spirit! So many suggested putting this together to both replace the bike and possibly start a scholarship fund for both this girl and others. Next week is this girl's birthday, so I'm hoping we can at least use this to surprise her with a new bike by then, and anything else afterwards will be put into the scholarship fund.
